Owl Cottage - Accommodation

The cottage was built in approximately 1820, this being the year before the Bronte family moved to Haworth. At that time the lane was referred to as The Ginnel before it became Changegate. Life was very different then with the deeds showing that the property had access to a communal ash pit and its own outside privy, the latter being down Changegate and outside where the newer properties have been built. The average life expectancy in Haworth was just 24!

Having purchased the cottage in April 2015 we have undertaken an extensive refurbishment. As there is no outside space we sadly had to decide against reinstating an open fire and we are pleased to say there is no need to venture down Changegate to find the bathroom!

Owl Cottage is now a one bedroom cottage which sleeps two, plus an infant, and comprises an open-plan kitchen and sitting room occupying the entire ground floor. On the first floor is a large master bedroom alongside which is a stylish shower room.

The decor is simple but tasteful with this luxury self-catering holiday let having the home comforts you would expect including:

Ground Floor

Tranquil sitting room with seating for 3, flatscreen HD Freeview TV, DVD player, feature fireplace and stove, dining table & chairs, Neff electric oven with slide and hide door, ceramic hob, microwave, wine cooler, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher. Broadband/Wi-Fi installed for guests use.

Upstairs

Super king-size bed, built-in wardrobe, chests of drawers, Freeview TV with built in DVD player. Separate shower room with sink having an illuminated mirror over incorporating an electric shaver point and WC. Towels and bedlinen are provided and changed weekly for guest stays in excess of one week.
